Mr. Walters’ Car vs. the Brake Press
Our first day of metal shop was filled with surprises. Not only did I get to operate potentially-hazardous equipment, but I also got to see one of the best school pranks in history. The school had opted that year to buy a new brake press for Mr. Walters, the metal shop teacher. Mr. Walters seemed more excited about the press than his new car and wanted to demonstrate the machine immediately. The unveiling occurred just after lunch, and I will never forget it. You see, someone had already used the machine. And pressed into a nice arch was Mr. Walters’ rear bumper.
