Views On “Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior”
Unusually honest portrayal of parenting quotes, tips, and advice and education in the West versus much of Asia and certainly in China. Let’s face it, what the author describes in the West, at least certainly in America, is the politically correct _garbage_ that has infected our culture and educational system. The worship of self-esteem over and above, at all costs, achievement by the child has destroyed at least the past 20 years of children in America. America still does rather amazing work in creativity which Chinese methods of parenting and education simply do not (WSJ article several weeks ago describes this rather well). But our standing in educational outcomes is not just embarrassing but shameful and truly a crime against the very kids we claim to care so much about. As the author suggests here true love of the child shows them this love through preparation/parenting for a good life through being competent and capable of living their life without constant sweet-worded reassurance and having true self-confidence via achievement rather than repetition of empty mamby pamby words into a mirror like Stuart Smalley a la PC.
