Some of the Simplest Ways To Rank for Your Main Target Search Terms: Search Engine Optimisation “Tricks”:
There is no shortcut to visibility in search, let’s just clear that up straight away – however, there are always things you can do to make your life that little bit easier. Secondly, there are always things you can do with SEO to speed up the process, too. Now, if we were to go into all of these tips in one post we would literally be here forever, so for the purposes of brevity, I’m going to talk about one thing: exact match domain names.
The Exact Match Boost and Certain Extensions:
You can get a boost in search for one particular search term if you buy a domain name which matches that particular keyword exactly. For example, if you want to rank for the search term “Search Engine Optimisation Norwich” then you could register the domain name searchengineoptimisationnorwich.com.
This particular strategy only works across certain extensions including .com, .net, .org, .co.uk and .org.uk – your best chances at capturing a registration rest with the .org.uk extension.
It’s also worth noting that for more competitive queries, you will still need to do some link building, too – this isn’t just a “buy a domain name watch magic happen” strategy.
How To Make The Process Easier:
The best way to approach finding a quality exact match domain name is to first do a little bit of keyword research – use the Google Keyword Tool and compile a document around some of your main target search terms.
Then, download these search terms into an excel document, and from there cut and paste the search terms into a bulk WHOIS tool like WHOIS.hm – you will be able to search across all of the main extensions at the same time e.g. .com, .org, .net, .co.uk and .org.uk.
Lastly, don’t do too much – in order to make this strategy successful you need to build up slow, the last thing you want to do is go out an set-up 10 or 20 websites, all with exact match domain names, and start building links to all of them; start slow.
