Cat medicine tips

Cats have exceptionally loose skin at the back of thier neckand it is commonly called the scruff. Most mother cats grasp and carry thier kittens from this scruff area of the neck.

So, all cats, including adult cats become quiet and passive when gripped in this area. Males will often grab the female by the scruff to still her during breeding, and to prevent her from running away as mating takes place.

Humans can use this knowledge when administering cat medicine to any pet cat, but especially in circumstances where the cat becomes agitated and won’t remain still, like for example during injections.
