Twelve inch sliders are the bomb
You can search and search across the internet for reviews of the Milwaukee 6955-29 twelve inch dual bevel sliding compound miter saw looking for a bad review and you are highly unlikely to to be able to find one. Oh, you might run across a niggly little complaint in a four star review about the fact that the dust collection isn’t great (in fact the Milwaukee’s dust collection is thought to be quite good, but the fact is that no miter saw has really incredible dust collection), or maybe they can’t read the scale very well, or there is one adjustment that they have a difficult time with.
You need to be aware that a twelve inch dual bevel sliding compound miter saw is a bit of a beast. You will need to move it into place and not plan on moving it a whole bunch, at least not if you have a back like mine. But it can take the place of a radial arm saw in your shop, and you sure as hell wouldn’t think of moving one of those around the shop, even if you had the darn thing on wheels. This saw or the DeWalt DW718 twelve inch dual bevel sliding compound miter saw are both big and bulky and heavy. In a way it is surprising how easy they are to use given their size.
I think that even if it is a bit of a push, the next time you are looking to buy a miter saw, unless it is a saw you need to sling about every day, you need to consider buying a saw like the 6955-20 (actually you should consider the Milwaukee itself, not something like the saw). If you do you won’t find yourself having to deal with buyer’s remorse at any time in the future like you will if you give in and just buy yourself a cheap ten inch miter saw.
