Hair Bands and the Motley Crue Effect
The 80s were filled with hair bands and wild live stage shows. Motley Crue was one of those bands that helped to define hair bands. To fully understand the Motley Crue Effect, one must know what makes up a true hair band.
Of course, you have to have not only long hair, but it must be teased to the ceiling with more hairspray than stocked at your local drug store. Next, you need an attitude coupled with a penchant for partying the night away. Also, you must have a metal group with a high-octane vocalist, shredding guitarist, hard pounding drummer, and steady bassist. Finally, and maybe the most important, you must be able to write hooky tunes that one just cannot get out of their head.
